This book includes a selection of the most significant contributions presented at the international symposium held in Argentina in March 2003. The meeting commemorated the Nordenskjöld’s expedition, Swedish-Argentine early scientific fieldwork in Patagonia and Antarctica, and the present status of our knowledge in the natural sciences in the Archipelago of Tierra del Fuego, the Antarctic Peninsula and the sub-Antarctic seas.
